Nowadays, people do not depend on local television stations for entertainment and news. They want to know what’s happening around the world for one reason or the other. As a result, Cable TV became available in most homes, but the funny situation is this; we pay for subscriptions, hoping to enjoy and utilize our subscriptions but our work and business schedules, as well as other issues that trigger in our lives, will not allow us enjoy the subscriptions we paid for, and then, it expires !!
Don’t worry; you won’t have to regret not using your
subscriptions anymore, as am going to give you tips on how to use your cable TV
decoder as your internet modem for internet browsing, while still enjoying the
entertainment in all the channels you subscribed.
Let’s begin with gathering the tools needed to make it
happen. These tools are not scarce, they are available, affordable and you can buy them in
electrical/electronics shops near you. The tools you will need are;
Cable TV Decoder
Cable modem
Splitter
Coaxial wire
LAN cable (Rj 45)
Take these few steps to get connected and enjoy.
1.
Connect one of the Splitter wire to the Decoder
coaxial port.
2.
Connect the other Splitter wire to Cable Modem
port.
3.
Connect the Modem to your computer
4.
Connect one of the LAN cable to the Decoder and
the other to your computer.
5.
Configure your Browser with the IP address it
generates or it can auto generate an IP address.
Note: You may call a network technician to do
the connections for you, if you cannot handle the process.
Now you are good to go !
